The World According to...

I've learned many things, mostly from television, movies, and video games. But that counts... right?

Poets, novelists, and writers in general tend to think that they can somehow describe love so perfectly that every person on this whole wide planet who’s ever been in love could relate. That is the biggest sin that can be done in writing. How dare you try to make something so complex so simple. It is not simple, it was never meant to be. Love is love and can only be love. There is a reason we keep writing about it because it is so many things.
But if I could leave you with one simple idea that is only a small fraction of the big complex universe that is love it is this, love is human.

People often compare their love to Romeo and Juliet, but to me that is so fucking stupid, why the fuck am I gonna compare my love to two teenagers that killed themselves because they’d rather die they be apart? That is not love, love is giving your whole body, mind, and soul to someone. Love is pain, love is torment, love is passion. Love is not a suicide pact, nor secret trysts that last only a few months. Love knows no bounds, nor restraints. Love knows no time limit nor age requirements. Love is simply love. And when you love someone you know. You know by that funny feeling in your gut when you think about them. You know it when all you want to do is just spend time with them. You know it when the only thing that you care about is them. When you just want them to be happy, even if it’s not with you. Because love is not self-serving, love is not a selfish emotion. Being in love is the most selfless thing a person can be, and that’s where the beauty in the word lies.

…It was at this time that Turner thought back to what he learned about the origins of life. I mean think about it, every single human being, every single living creature, every single thing in the whole of existence is created from the same stuff. Turner knew this, and it really made him think, he thought about how in one moment everything was created all at once everywhere, he thought about how in one moment everything expanded unto the nothing. He thought about how Hydrogen molecules somehow got pushed together and heated up to create stars. He thought about how these stars had dust fields revolving around them and how in a billion years heavenly bodies formed from the dust. He thought about how after more billions of years one singular planet somehow was in the right spot to support the smallest and simplest forms of life.

He then thought about how over millions of years these life forms got complex and smarter and grew legs and lungs and brains and thumbs. Then they started talking and making weapons and created culture and writing and tools, and civilizations. He then thought about how here he was millions of billions of trillions of years later after that one fantastic moment when everything was created, and how he was just like the dusty ground beneath his feet, he was just an assembly of different elements arranged to make something much much bigger. Turner was dust, Turner was rain, Turner was the clouds in the sky, Turner was the stars and planets, and galaxy and even the universe.

And in the moment he realized that even though he was just one person on a small planet on the each of a galaxy in an ever expanding universe he was not insignificant. He was one out of 6 billion plus people, but he was the ONLY Turner Moorson, and his life was his, and his destiny was his, and only he could figure it out and only he was the one that could choose what he was going to do. He was in control, but this discovery made him come to an even bigger question. A question that we have been asking since the start of our story, what the fuck does he do now?

Women are like going to a museum, you can look at the artwork, and you can admire the masterpieces, you can ponder about what feelings and thoughts they bring to mind, but under no circumstances does that give you fucking permission to touch the bloodly artwork!

There are many ways that people try to describe love. Sure, it can be giving your life for someone, sure it can be wanting them to be as happy no matter what, but honestly, love is sharing your food with someone. If you don’t get upset when they eat your food, well I can assure you that, that my friend is true honest to goodness love.

The world is magical to a child, the world is so big to a child, the world is wonderful, strange, and intriguing to a child. Sadly, somewhere along the way we stop the magic, we make it so small, and we no longer question. Is that what growing up is?

What humanity forgets is that the monster under your bed may not actually be a monster. Just because someone is scared of you doesn’t make you evil. Take bugs and snakes for example. Loads of people are scared of snakes but they aren’t the spawn of Satan. A monster is a monster because your fear makes it a monster. As long as you hold onto that fear then you’ll always see monsters.
Humans are a fragile species and thusly so have fears, everyone is afraid of something, if they say no then they are lying to you. But humans get scared because it’s a natural response for an uncomfortable situation. Saying that there is something under your bed or in your closet makes a lot of sense to a young child at night because we don’t know what lurks within the shadows. Just remember that the next time you met a monster.

The Knower Chronicles

I haven’t worked on the novel in a while but this quote just came to me. I think it really sums up part of what I want the series to be able someday.

Love and Death have more in common then people actually realize. For one they both are sad. Love is sad because there is nothing more painful to a human than loving someone who doesn’t love you back. There is a true sadness of an unrequited love. A sadness and pain that doesn’t go away, that builds every time you see that person you love but doesn’t love you back. That will never love you back. It is truly a deep sorrow that is almost impossible to escape, and a sadness that all but consumes you. But love is also beautiful because there is nothing more magical than when two people are in love. There is nothing more beautiful then when two people realize that they need the other person in their life, that they truly found the person that completes them.
The same can be said about death. Death is obviously sad, a person leaves they mortal coil to never return and it is sad because we don’t know what is in store for us after we leave this plane of existence. Death is sad because it is for the most part an end to the only form of existence humans know of. But death is also beautiful. Death is beautiful because it is the most honest anyone will ever truly be. A person on their death bed has no need for lies or deceit, a person who is going to die has no need to hide their emotions. Death comes for everything in the end because sometimes beautiful things end up destroying.
Death and love are the two most honest things that any human can experience. If anyone ever tells you that neither are beautiful then they clearly have never experienced being in love or having someone close to them die.

People see the world through how people treat them. They see it either as a wonderfully magical place that is just beautiful or they see it as a vile, disgusting place full of hate and pain. The problem is most people see the latter.
